A human child is so very fragile, though at the same time he carries within him an enormous living power. In order for that power to grow, however, much love, patience, effort, and gentle kindness must be applied. When a child arrives, life changes – every parent can tell you that. Fathers and mothers together with their child discover a new world, rejoicing at their first accomplishments. Instead of ‘I’, their speech is now peppered, with the royal ‘We’: “We’ve learned to walk,” “We’ve studied poetry”, and so on. As grown up and serious as we may be, a child can return us to the fun world of childhood, where you can build a castle from chairs, where papa’s shirt becomes a magician’s cloak, and where right there on the street you can find your very own magic wand.
